Saddle Mountain is an iconic hike that every Oregonian/Washingtonian and Pacific Northwesterner should do at some point. The trail—closed from 2020 to 2023—has now been back open to the public for a year! It looms over the northern Oregon coast range and tops out at nearly 3,300 feet, with views of the Pacific Ocean just fifteen miles to the west. I hiked it on a lovely summer day, took the camera along and wrote a song to recap the experience.
